Beth’s Burgers
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs ground beef I prefer organic grass fed beef, turkey is fine too
- 1 egg beaten
- 1/2 cup grated white onion
- 1 tsp dried onion flakes
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1.5 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp canola oil
Servings: burgers
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, onion puree, dried onion flakes, garlic powder, kosher salt and pepper. Mix with your hands until evenly distributed.
- Take approximately 1/3 cup (or more if you prefer larger burgers) of the beef mixture in your hands and form a burger patty making a deep depression in the center of the burger with your thumbs. Repeat this step...
- Place the burgers on an oiled baking sheet with sides (if you're baking the burgers) and salt and pepper each side.
- If you're baking the burgers in the oven, place in a preheated oven at 350 degrees F for approximately 18-22 minutes. I cook my burgers until they are no longer pink in the middle. If you prefer a rare burger, decrease the cook time.
- If using a grill, heat a gas grill to high, or a charcoal grill until the coals glow bright orange and ash over. Brush the burgers with the canola oil. Cook for three to four minutes and then flip the burgers over and cook for another couple of minutes until you reach your desired temperature.
- After the burgers are finished cooking remove from the oven or grill and place a slice of cheese on the hot burgers.
- Serve on toasted buns with your favorite toppings, I prefer tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, ketchup and mustard.
- Enjoy!
